Kitsune Class: Where Families Train Together
Forget sitting on the sidelines or just holding a foam pad. In our Kitsune family classes, parents and children (ages 10–15) are actively engaged from start to finish. This isn’t just a kids’ class with parents helping—it’s a technical martial arts environment where everyone grows.
Why Our Family Training is Different
-
Active Engagement: You’re not just holding pads; you’ll be grabbing, defending, and practicing controlled escapes together.
-
A Two-Way Street: You’ll develop your own self-defence skills. You’ll work with your child to help them grow, but also train with other parents and senior students. This ensures you face adult-sized resistance and learn techniques that actually work for you.
-
Realistic Control: You’ll help your child practice against a stronger opponent in a safe way, while learning the mechanics of controlling a situation yourself.
-
Deep Bonding: There is no better way to build trust than by overcoming physical challenges together. You aren’t just a spectator—you are a teammate.
What You Will Learn
Our junior curriculum focuses on Aiki-Jujitsu techniques tailored to build confidence, discipline, and practical self-defence. Students and parents will master:
Growth and Progression
The Grading System
Our grading system rewards hard work and personal progression, typically occurring every 3 to 4 months. We emphasise that:
-
Progress is individual; sometimes it takes longer as techniques become more complex.
-
Advancing through higher grades requires increased patience, consistency, and effort.
Pressure Testing
As students advance, we introduce controlled “pressure tests” to ensure techniques work in the real world:
-
Randori: Controlled, free-style practice or sparring.
-
Pin-to-the-Floor: Testing your ability to maintain control and technique under resistance.
-
Set Sparring: Dynamic scenarios to apply learned skills in real-time.
Leadership Development
We don’t just build martial artists; we build leaders.
-
After 1 Year: Students are encouraged to help lead warm-ups.
-
Black Belt Level: Students are expected to help lead a class under supervision.
This engaging and supportive environment helps families grow stronger, more confident, and better prepared for life’s challenges!
